Please keep in mind this was 20 or so years ago. We lived in a very rural area
called Hacknerville. The first time I saw it, I was laying on my bed looking out my
window when I saw something moving in the thick trees and growth behind our
house. I watched and it turned and headed deeper into the woods. It was misting
rain I remember. The next day my brother and I walked out into the woods a little
deeper than we normally would go and found what look to be a large shelter for
a very large animal. The grass was packed to the ground and there were pine or
spruce limbs layed over bushes around it to make a sort of roof. It was a pretty
large area too. And I remember very clearly how both of us complained about the
smell. It was very strong. But I can't think of what I would compare it to.
There was another time when I was laying in my bed after just being sent to bed.
I was probably 11 years old. Maybe 12. Suddenly we heard a gun shooting
across the road and and mens voices yelling. I raised up and looked out my
window and saw a huge figure running on top of the little hill just out of our yard.
The oldest neighbor boy...probably 17 at the time came running beside my
window with a rifle in his hand and there was about 3 or 4 other neighbor
boys/men with him. We all ran outside to see what was going on. They said they
just seen something huge and dark running through the pasture where their
cows where. Everyone decided to go into the woods after it. There was only one
road leading into the thick woods behind our house and we had to go about a
block down the road to get to it. So everyone loaded into their trucks and
headed that way. All the neighborhood boys/men, my older brother, and my
step-dad took thier guns and went off into the woods. Me, my little brother!

and my mom were left to sit in the back of our truck. My mom had a handgun. It
seemed like hours before they came. We heard a couple of really
strange...almost screams/yells...Im not sure how to describe it. Scary!! But finally
the guys came back and hadn't found anything. All anyone could figure was that
it had ran into the swamp to the other side which came out onto another old dirt
raod at the time.
There was other incident. My older brother had a motorcycle. We lived at the top
of a small hill. One night he was sneaking out...so he coasted his bike about
halfway down the hill and then started it (hoping my parents wouldn't hear him).
But when he started it, he must have scared the thing on the side of the road. He
said it was about 30 feet in front of him and when it heard his bike start it took off
for the other side of the road and knocked a small tree down in the road in front
of my brother. It just kept running into the woods. When we got up in the
morning, he told me and some of the other kids about it. He couldnt tell my
parents, of course (sneaking out), so when we walked to the bottom of the hill
and looked, sure enough...there was a small tree broken and laying partially in
the road.

(Attributes) I can't honestly say Ive ever gotten a clear look at this thing. But
when I saw it in the woods, it was probably 8 feet tall, standing up but with almost
like a humped over walk, long arms, blackish brown hair.

I wish I could help you more. The only reason I sent this is because all of my life I
have wanted to know for sure if a bigfoot is what I saw. There was a small flurry
of sightings around this area for a little while after all this. There was even
someone who said they had captured bigfoot...I think it was in the papers. I know
it was a hoax. But maybe this will help you in some way. My family is a very
conservative family and although it wouldnt bother me, I know they would not
want to be linked to going really public with this. Im sure you can understand. My
brothers might would be willing to offer you info...but not my parents. I will give
directions as too where all this happened just in case it could help in some small
way. Alexander City is in Tallapoosa County. If your in Alex City, you would take
HWY63 N. going toward Hackneyville. About 4 or 5 miles out of Alex City city
limits (before you get to Hackneyville) you will come to a road on the left called
Red Barn Road.!
